The leader of the Oklahoma State Senate has announced that right to work legislation will be assigned to the Senate General Government Committee this year.
Senate President Pro Tempore Stratton Taylor said he made the decision after discussing the issue with other Senators.
"After visiting with the members, it became clear that a majority of them preferred this approach. The general consensus was that one way or another this issue was going to reach the Senate floor. They felt it was better to go about this process in an orderly manner with some form of committee review, rather than waiting for a parliamentary maneuver that circumvented the committee system," said Senator Taylor.
The Senate leader said he has asked Senator Bruce Price, chairman of the Senate General Government Committee, to schedule a hearing for SJR 1 on Monday, February 12th. If the measure receives a do-pass recommendation from the committee, the full Senate will consider it shortly thereafter.
