Senate President Pro Tempore Brian Bingman issued the following statement Thursday in response to the certification of estimated revenue available for the state budget in fiscal year 2014 by the Oklahoma Board of Equalization.
“Today’s certification of estimate revenue figures shows that Oklahoma’s economy continues to be strong and robust. I am encouraged to see positive fiscal indicators, and will continue to promote a legislative agenda focused intently on growing jobs and prosperity in Oklahoma. Furthermore, our healthy deposit into the Rainy Day Fund demonstrates our continued commitment to common-sense government.
“However, our continued economic strength, relative to other states, is a direct result of our thoughtful and conservative budgetary planning. We all know economic uncertainty nationally – made worse by the ongoing fiscal cliff debate in Washington – will continue to adversely impact the states. We must plan accordingly, and while celebrating positive indicators of growth, remain cautious and forward-thinking.”
