OKLAHOMA CITY – Wheat producers and agriculture leaders active in the state’s wheat industry gathered in Oklahoma City to visit with lawmakers last week for Wheat Day at the Capitol, said Sen. Roland Pederson, R-Burlington. The annual legislative day is held to raise awareness and foster relationships among Oklahoma’s lawmakers and members of the wheat community. The event is coordinated each year by the Oklahoma Wheat Growers Association
“I always welcome the opportunity to visit with those associated with the Wheat Growers Association and share ideas about state agriculture,” Pederson said. “It was a good chance to discuss several issues of importance to them, and as a member of the Senate Agriculture & Wildlife Committee, those discussions provide good insight for me as well as we continue to consider bills affecting the future of state agriculture.”
During their visit to the Capitol, several Wheat Growers Association delegation members delivered loaves of Oklahoma-produced bread and shared facts of the industry featured on the packaging to help share information about the state’s wheat industry.
