Pederson Celebrates Completion of Kaw Lake Water Treatment Facility

ENID, OK — Sen. Roland Pederson, R-Burlington, on Friday joined local and state leaders in celebrating the completion and official ribbon-cutting of the Kaw Lake Water Supply Treatment Facility, marking the final major component of the Kaw Lake Water Supply Program.

The $350 million project represents a significant investment in the future of Enid and northwest Oklahoma, providing a reliable and sustainable water supply for generations to come.

“This is a major milestone for Enid and northwest Oklahoma,” said Senator Pederson. “Water is essential to the growth and future of our communities, and this project ensures Enid will have a reliable water supply for decades to come. I’m proud to have supported this effort and grateful to everyone who helped make this transformational project a reality.”

The new treatment facility will transition the City of Enid from relying solely on groundwater to a blended groundwater and surface water supply designed to meet the community's long-term needs while reducing demand on regional aquifers.

“We are grateful for the tremendous financial assistance provided through the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund and other financial assistance programs. We also thank our state delegation and Senator Pederson’s office for supporting funding through the Oklahoma Water Resources Board, which helps make critical water projects like this $350 million investment possible,” said City Manager Jerald Gilbert.

The project was made possible through the support of Enid voters, state and federal funding partners, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Oklahoma Water Resources Board as well as numerous regulatory agencies and tribal partners. This project represents years of planning and investment to strengthen Enid’s water infrastructure and support continued growth in the region.

This project reflects the vision and long-term planning needed to ensure a reliable water supply for generations to come. The Oklahoma Water Resources Board is proud to be a partner in that effort," said Director Julie Cunningham.

The Kaw Lake Water Supply Program will ensure the long-term availability of water for Enid residents, Vance Air Force Base, Woodring Regional Airport, local and outlying industry, neighboring municipalities and rural water customers.
