The 20th Biennial A. C. Hamlin Banquet, originally scheduled to be held Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum, has been rescheduled to September 28, 2015. The reception begins at 6:00 p.m. and dinner is at 7:00 p.m. Please mark your calendars for the new date and watch for more information regarding ticket purchases.
The A. C. Hamlin Biennial Banquet is held in honor of Albert Comstock Hamlin, who was the first African American elected to the Oklahoma state Legislature (1908) and was the only black to serve until 1964.
The honorees for the 20th Biennial A. C. Hamlin Banquet have been selected. Honorees are:
Trooper Lateka Alexander, Oklahoma’s first African American female State Trooper;
Michael C. Thompson, Commissioner Oklahoma Department of Public Safety and Brigadier General, Assistant Adjutant General, Oklahoma Army National Guard;
Leroy Thomas, Sr. (Posthumously), longtime president and chairman of American State Bank., which for many years was the only black-owned bank in Oklahoma; and
Roosevelt Milton, State of Oklahoma servant for over 43 years, having served 21 years as the President of the Oklahoma City NAACP, now serving as President Emeritus.
Special recognition honors will be presented to Governor Bill Anoatubby, Chickasaw Nation; Central States Troopers Coalition Association; and the AFL-CIO.
The Oklahoma Black Caucus Foundation is proud to host this event in recognition of such a worthy individual and to honor others who have made significant contributions not only to their communities, but to the State of Oklahoma and the nation.
