Legislative Democrats to host Capitol Conversation on bills

OKLAHOMA CITY – Senate and House Democrats will welcome the public’s ideas for new and updated laws on November 18. This will be their final Capitol Conversation event of 2025.

“Lots of great ideas for legislation come directly from constituents. We would love to hear from Oklahomans about their ideas for new laws they’d like to see proposed, or for changing or repealing laws already on the books,” said Senate Democratic Leader Julia Kirt, D-Oklahoma City. “This is your chance to tell us what needs improvement and what problems we can solve as we’re approaching our first deadline to finalize bills for the 2026 session.”

The Capitol Conversation on bill ideas will take place on Tuesday, November 18, in room 535 of the state Capitol, beginning at 5:30 p.m. There will be an overview presented by Eric Barr, a policy and legislative analyst at Metriarch, to help explain the bill process, then members of the public will have up to three minutes to share their ideas and priorities for proposed measures.

“This is a great chance to discuss policy solutions for real issues Oklahomans face,” said Rep. Suzanne Schreiber, D-Tulsa. “Conversations with lawmakers and fellow Oklahomans will help to create meaningful legislation for the 2026 session.”
