Hicks, Boren issue statements following Senate Rules Committee passage of harmful state questions

OKLAHOMA CITY – Sen. Carri Hicks, D-Oklahoma City, and Sen. Mary Boren, D-Norman, issued the following statements after voting no on proposed constitutional amendments on Monday morning’s Senate Rules Committee agenda.

“The items on today’s agenda include a quick-action power grab by the supermajority designed to strip health care protections from low-wage workers and small business owners. While they tried to frame their proposals as ‘managing’ health care, it really is about undoing the will of the voters.” – Sen. Carri Hicks, D-Oklahoma City.

“The Rules Committee agenda was about seizing constitutional control from voters. Today, Senator Hicks and I did our best to stop this unprecedented power grab and defend the fundamental right of every Oklahoman to shape our state’s future.” – Sen. Mary Boren, D-Norman.
