Hamilton welcomes McAlester girls’ basketball team to the Senate

Sen. Warren Hamilton, R-McCurtain, honored the Class 5A Girls State Basketball Champions, the McAlester Lady Buffaloes, on the Senate floor last Monday to recognize their outstanding achievements on and off the court.

The team beat the El Reno Lady Indians 53-49 at the Lloyd Noble Center in Norman in March to claim the first state championship for the Lady Buffaloes in 12 years.

“Grit, determination, perseverance – these are all words that describe this team,” Hamilton said. “I speak for the entire town of McAlester when I say how incredibly proud we are of these ladies who laid it all out on the floor and brought home that coveted gold ball. It was an honor to welcome them to the Senate, along with coach Will Holiman, and recognize their achievements.”
