OKLAHOMA CITY – Sen. Christi Gillespie, R-Broken Arrow, took the oath of office on Wednesday. The ceremony was led by Sen. Brent Howard, the chamber’s chief presiding officer, in the Senate chamber. Gillespie was joined by family and friends who watched proudly from the gallery.
Gillespie is one of 14 new senators joining the Oklahoma Legislature this year.
After moving to Oklahoma as a child, Gillespie quickly developed a deep connection to the Broken Arrow community, where she’s spent decades raising her family and building her career. With more than 30 years of experience in sales, and as the owner of a local small business, she brings a wealth of business expertise and a strong commitment to supporting Oklahoma families. Her public service includes serving on the Broken Arrow City Council, where she became Vice Mayor in 2021, focusing on community growth, public safety, and infrastructure improvements.
“I’m honored and grateful for the support of those who have walked this journey with me,” Gillespie said. “Representing Senate District 33 is a privilege, and I am committed to working hard to make Oklahoma the best place for families to live and grow.”
The 60th session of the Oklahoma Legislature begins Jan. 7 with an organizational day to select leadership and establish rules, with the full legislative session set to start Feb. 3.
