OKLAHOMA CITY — On Saturday, a 20-year-old shooter attempted to assassinate former President Donald Trump, wounding his ear, killing one man, and injuring two more. Sen. Dusty Deevers, R-Elgin, released the following statement condemning the attack and encouraging citizens to follow Trump’s exhortation immediately after being shot to “fight” for our principles.
“Saturday’s assassination attempt on Former President Trump that wounded his ear and killed hero Corey Comperatore is an unconscionable attack on our Republic. I pray for the Comperatore family as well as for President Trump and the two others who were injured.
“More than anything, I pray that the violence would not escalate further and that this would be a moment for those who have resorted to obscenely inflammatory rhetoric toward President Trump to reflect on how they have contributed to a level of political hatred in our country that threatens the safety of all engaging in the political process.
“Trump has faced activist prosecutors and judges in New York who have worked to destroy him by throwing trumped up charges at him even as they let violent criminals walk free. He has faced a national media that has accused him of being the second coming of Hitler and wanting to destroy “our democracy” even though he holds very moderate policy positions on most issues. The result has been only for him to continue to rise in the polls. Even after being shot in the ear, President Trump responded with remarkable composure and determination, as he halted the Secret Service’s protective measures to exhort the crowd to “fight, fight, fight.” There appears to be no low to which President Trump’s opponents and enemies will not stoop, but there also does not appear to be anything which will weaken his resolve.
“Since the shooting, the left-wing activists in the mainstream media have taken a brief break from labeling Trump as Hitler reincarnated and conservatives as threats to democracy to now call for “unity.” People can change and there is no time better than the present. However, without a substantial change there can be no unity with those who clearly inspired the would-be assassin, who promote the murder of children in the womb, who push obscene drag performances onto small children and genital mutilation and that without parental consent, who are at war with the foundations of this country and even biological reality itself. Without substantial change, how can there be political unity with people who believe that “man” and “woman” are mere social constructs and seek to weaponize the power of government to punish those who push back on their insanity as we are seeing in the Texas Children’s Hospital debacle? Simply put, the right must win. In Marxist leftism, we face evil itself.
“Them winning means only more chaos and violence. The time for the silent majority remaining silent needs to be over. Those who love Jesus Christ and who hold the commonsense views that were taken for granted by every generation of human beings until postmodern leftists decided to try to deconstruct reality must fight to defeat the left. We must fight not with carnal weapons like the man who murdered Corey Comperatore. We must fight with bold proclamation of the truth and active engagement in local politics. The left’s most powerful weapon is the political correctness they have foisted upon us, making good Americans with common sense views out to be racists, sexists, and every other “ist.” Political correctness has all but banished common sense from polite society.
“Refuse the shackles of political correctness. There are two genders, life begins at conception, and the Southern border is being invaded. It is time for those committed to truth to rise up and “fight,” as Trump exhorted, according to the Truth, for the glory of God, and for the good of the American people.”
