OKLAHOMA CITY – Sen. Jerry Alvord, R-Wilson, has secured approval from the Senate Public Safety Committee for Senate Bill 636. The measure prohibits any state entity or political subdivision from using public funding to distribute any pamphlet or kit that opposes the rights granted by the 2nd Amendment.
“Senate Bill 636 ensures that Oklahoma taxpayer dollars are not spent on propaganda that seeks to undermine our constitutional freedoms,” Alvord said. “Our constitution guarantees the right to bear arms, and no state entity should be using its resources or materials to actively oppose this individual freedom. This measure is a critical step toward ensuring that taxpayer funds are used solely to serve the people, not special interests that seek to infringe on our freedoms, especially those protected by the 2nd Amendment.”
Senate Bill 636 also prohibits such entities from employing any liaison or lobbyist to support or defeat the enactment, repeal, or amendment of any legislation, rule, regulation, administrative action, or order by any federal or state governmental entity relating to the 2nd Amendment.
The measure now moves to the full Senate for further consideration.
