Oklahoma State University – Oklahoma City has found a way to further enhance their already renowned Arts and Sciences department by utilizing the Senate’s newly implemented webcast technology.
Dr. Tim Faltyn, Division Head of Arts and Sciences and professor of American Government as well as State and Local Government, was able to record the much anticipated debate on House Bill 2047, the tort reform measure, in the Senate Judiciary Committee on Tuesday April 5th. He stated that he will rebroadcast the debate the next week during his Tuesday morning lecture, which is the largest class on the OSU-OKC campus.
“I’m very pleased to hear that the Senate has become more accessible to the community through this enhanced technology,” stated Senate President Pro Tempore Mike Morgan. “I am excited that important legislation can be followed and accessed by college students because it is extremely important for our young voters to be up-to-date on the current issues that will affect our state as a whole.”
The Senate announced the availability of a live webcam in the Senate Chamber and just weeks later announced the same capability in room 419-C, which is where some of the major committees meet on a weekly basis. The new technology was completed by Senate staff, at no additional cost to Oklahoma taxpayers.
