Burns Introduces Bill to Protect Oklahoma-Made Firearm Suppressors

OKLAHOMA CITY – Sen. George Burns, R-Pollard, has filed Senate Bill 124, a measure designed to exempt Oklahoma-made firearm suppressors and their basic materials from federal laws and regulations.

SB 124 specifies that firearm suppressors manufactured within the state of Oklahoma must have the words “Made in Oklahoma” clearly stamped or engraved on them. Additionally, the legislation stipulates that suppressors will be considered Oklahoma-made if no materials, aside from generic or insignificant parts, are imported from outside the state. Generic and insignificant parts are defined as items with manufacturing or consumer applications beyond firearm suppressors.

“Oklahoma has a proud tradition of standing up for the rights of our citizens, especially when it comes to the Second Amendment,” Burns said. “This legislation ensures that firearm suppressors made entirely in Oklahoma are not subjected to unnecessary federal regulations intended for interstate commerce.”

The bill reinforces Oklahoma’s stance on states’ rights and seeks to support the growing firearm and accessory manufacturing industry within the state.

SB 124 is available to be considered.
