OKLAHOMA CITY – Sen. David Bullard, R-Durant, has filed legislation to reduce the administrative burden on Oklahoma schools.
The Administrative Report Consolidation Act, also known as Senate Bill 1236, would establish an 11-member board to reduce administrative reporting requirements for public school districts and technology center school districts.
The board would eliminate duplicative and outdated reporting requirements, consolidate reports where necessary, make legislative recommendations regarding statutory reporting requirements and create an action plan for the continued review of reporting requirements. The board would aim to consolidate the number of required annual reports to no more than 10 for each school district.
A former history teacher, Bullard said he knows state reporting requirements can be a burden on school leaders.
“As someone with a master’s degree in school administration, I have seen firsthand how crippling it is for administrators to be asked to constantly complete repetitive and often unnecessary reports,” he said. “Instead of supporting teachers’ professional growth and being present in the halls to address discipline issues, they are stuck filling out reports that don’t solve a single problem. The Report Consolidation Act seeks to address this by empowering a board of experts to reduce the number of required reports, giving administrators more time to foster a first-class education environment.”
SB 1236 will be eligible for consideration during the 2026 legislative session, which begins Feb. 2.
