Senator Paul Scott, R-Duncan, is the author of Senate Bill 101 to update Oklahoma’s barbering and massage therapist licensing rules. The bill went to conference and has passed both the Senate and House committee and is now heading to the House for a floor vote. If approved, it will then go on to the Governor for consideration.

On Monday afternoon, members of the Senate Rules Committee learned about the importance of census participation and the negative impact that can occur from under reporting. Presentations were made by the U.S. Census Bureau, the Oklahoma Department of Commerce, the Oklahoma Center for Nonprofits and the Oklahoma Institute for Child Advocacy.

The Senate Appropriations Committee unanimously approved legislation Wednesday to boost the state’s second largest industry, the aerospace industry. House Bill 2578, by Sen. Paul Rosino and Rep. Tess Teague, would create the Aerospace Commerce Economic Services (ACES) program under the Department of Commerce. The ACES program is based on similar business models from other states that have proven to have substantial economic impacts.

Remote Online Notary Act heads to House


The Senate gave unanimous approval to legislation Monday to allow notary publics to certify electronic documents. Sen. Paul Rosino, R-Oklahoma City, is the author of Senate Bill 915 creating a Remote Online Notarization (RON) process in Oklahoma allowing notaries to perform their services online over secure audio video calls rather than in person.

Oklahoma is home to thousands of disabled veterans, many without family or friends to help them with their finances, healthcare and other personal matters. Senate Bill 931, by Sen. Paul Rosino, creates the Veterans Volunteer Guardianship Act to provide Oklahoma’s heroes with guardians to look out for their financial and physical well-being.

Many of Oklahoma’s disabled veterans do not have anyone to help them make critical decisions concerning their finances, health and other personal affairs. Now these heroes will have court-appointed, trained volunteers available to assist them thanks to legislation signed into law Thursday.
