On Tuesday, the Senate unanimously approved House Bill 2008, by Sen. David Bullard, R-Durant, and Rep. Justin Humphrey, R-Lane.  The bill will now return to the House for further consideration.

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Senate has unanimously approved Gov. Kevin Stitt’s executive nomination of Yukon resident, Scott Crow, to serve as the Director of the Oklahoma Department of Corrections. Sen. Michael Brooks, D-Oklahoma City, carried the nomination before the Senate Public Safety Committee in April and before the full Senate Monday afternoon.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Nearly one in five Americans report having fallen victim to porch piracy.  The Senate approved legislation Monday to strengthen penalties against those who steal mail, packages or other items out of others’ mailboxes or off porches. House Bill 2777, by Sen. Lonnie Paxton, creates the Porch Piracy Act of 2020 to help better protect businesses and consumers.

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Legislative Office of Fiscal Transparency Oversight Committee on Friday selected Mike Jackson of Oklahoma City as executive director of the office.

The hire was recommended by House Speaker Charles McCall and Senate President Pro Tempore Greg Treat.

The Senate recently confirmed the executive nomination of David Morstad to the State Textbook Committee to serve an unexpired term ending Mar. 1, 2021, succeeding Jennifer Stanford. His nomination was first approved by the Senate Education Committee on Tuesday, Apr. 28, 2020. Sen. Michael Brooks, D-OKC, carried the nomination in the Senate for Gov. Kevin Stitt.

On Thursday, the Senate gave final approval to Senate Bill 210 allowing alternative procedures for absentee ballots during elections held in 2020.  The bill allows anyone who requests an absentee ballot to attach a photocopy of certain identification cards with their ballot instead of having the ballot notarized.
