OKLAHOMA CITY – Sen. George Burns, R-Pollard, released the following statement Monday regarding the tornado and severe weather that hit Idabel and other communities throughout southeastern Oklahoma on Friday evening:

OKLAHOMA CITY – Senate Democratic Leader Kay Floyd took the oath of office on Monday, beginning her final term in the Oklahoma Legislature. Floyd was unopposed for the Senate District 46 seat. Floyd, D-Oklahoma City, was joined by fellow members, friends, and family for the Senate Chamber ceremony.

The OKC metro seat was redrawn after the 2020 U.S. Census, and will, for the first time, include Del City.  Floyd said she looked forward to serving all constituents within Senate District 46.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Sen. Warren Hamilton intends to refile a resolution that proposes changes to the approval process for state questions.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Sen. Roger Thompson, R-Okemah, was on hand for a special celebration Monday at Eufaula State Park to mark Checotah Intermediate Elementary School’s designation as a National Blue Ribbon School.  The school’s principal, Ryan Ambrose, was also honored as a 2022 recipient of the Terrel H.

OKLAHOMA CITY –Sen. Julia Kirt will hold an interim study on Oct. 24 focused on Oklahoma’s laws for ethics and accountability for elected officials.

“Ensuring public servants are held to the highest standards of conduct is essential if government officials are to earn and maintain the public’s trust,” Kirt said. “Oklahoma has had some spectacular breaches of public trust over the past few years. I believe that we can expose bad actors and support quality leaders by improving our ethics systems.”

OKLAHOMA CITY – Sen. Adam Pugh, R-Edmond, announced this week that the National Compact Commission has completed work on the Interstate Teaching Mobility Compact (ITMC) to improve licensure portability for educators.
