Bills aim to address rising crime and get repeat offenders and career criminals off the street

OKLAHOMA CITY – Sen. Jo Anna Dossett, D-Tulsa, has won the support of the full Senate for her legislation to better prepare those stepping into the role of guardian for a person with dementia. Senate Bill 1751 would require training specific to dementia, including understanding the disease, communication techniques, and information about resources for caregivers.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Sen. Roger Thompson, R-Okemah, issued a statement Friday in response to Attorney General Gentner Drummond asking a federal judge to dismiss tribal charges against an Okmulgee County jail officer who was involved in a physical altercation with Muscogee Nation Lighthorse Police. 

OKLAHOMA CITY – Sen. Warren Hamilton, R-McCurtain, received approval Wednesday for Senate Bill 1427, legislation designed to fund revitalization efforts related to the Oklahoma State Penitentiary Prison Rodeo.
