OKLAHOMA CITY— Senator Brenda Stanley, R-Midwest City, released the following statement in response to the governor’s veto of House Bill 1389.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Sen. George Burns, R-Pollard, issued the following statement after the Senate Education Committee voted this week to confirm two of his executive nominations to the Carl Albert State College Board of Regents.

Former State Senator Mark Allen and financial advisor Lavon Williams both received committee approval and will now advance to the full Senate for final confirmation.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Sen. Kelly Hines, R-Oklahoma City, has secured final passage of life-saving legislation to improve how educators and school staff respond to severe allergic reactions.

The Senate on Tuesday unanimously passed the Emerson Kate Cole Act, which is named after a young girl who suffered a fatal allergic reaction at school in 2023.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Sen. Carri Hicks, D-Oklahoma City, has been honored as a 2025 Oklahoma Legislator of the Year for her efforts in the Senate to support the mission of the Oklahoma National Guard.

OKLAHOMA CITY – The full Senate has passed a bill creating the “Rethinking Paying Subminimal Wage to Persons with Disabilities Task Force.” Senate Democratic Leader Julia Kirt is the Senate principal author of House Bill 1833, which would form a panel to develop strategies for phasing out the practice of paying Oklahoma workers with disabilities lower than minimum wages, known as a 14 (c) waiver.  

OKLAHOMA CITY – Sen. Casey Murdock, R-Felt, commented today on the governor signing Senate Bill 500, which prohibits the state from contracting with companies that discriminate against firearm businesses or firearm trade associations.

Murdock has championed this key Second Amendment reform since 2022.
