OKLAHOMA CITY – Sen. John Haste has been chosen to serve on several key committees in the Oklahoma State Senate.  Senate President Pro Tempore-designate Greg Treat announced the appointments Friday.

            The freshman Republican will serve on the Appropriations Subcommittee on Health and Human Services as well as the Retirement and Insurance, Education, and Veterans and Military Affairs Committees.

State Sen. Tom Dugger has been chosen to head the Appropriations Subcommittee on Select Agencies for the 57th Legislature.  The subcommittee oversees 57 state agencies, boards and commissions.  These are entities that do not receive state appropriations but are funded through fees and through the services they provide.

State Sen. Joe Newhouse has been chosen to serve as vice chair of the Senate Education Committee during the 57th Legislature.  Newhouse said he was honored by the appointment.

State Sen. Greg McCortney has been tapped to lead two committees during the 57th Legislature.  McCortney, R-Ada, was appointed by Senate President Pro Tempore-designate Greg Treat to serve as chair of the Senate Rules committee.  The Rules Committee primarily deals with legislation pertaining to the state constitution, elections, and other complex issues. McCortney was also chosen to serve as vice chair of the Health and Human Services committee.

James Leewright has been appointed to Governor-Elect Kevin Stitt’s Economic Growth Task Force, an advisory committee working on policy for Stitt’s Turnaround Plan.  In addition, Senate President Pro Tempore-designate Greg Treat has named Leewright chair of the Senate’s Business, Commerce and Tourism Committee for the 57th Legislature.

OKLAHOMA CITY –   State Senator Micheal Bergstrom was selected this week to serve as Vice-Chair of the Senate Transportation Committee of the 57th legislature. 

“I am incredibly honored to have been selected to chair this committee,” said Bergstrom, R-Adair.  “I appreciate the opportunity to serve in this capacity and I’m ready to get to work as we strive to find ways to help Oklahoma and its citizens prosper with common sense, conservative ideas.

OKLAHOMA CITY –   State Senator Marty Quinn has been selected to serve as Assistant Majority Floor Whip for the 2019 legislative session.  Quinn was tapped by incoming Senate Majority Whip, Senator Rob Standridge, to serve in the leadership role.   Quinn, R-Claremore, was also recently selected by Senate President Pro Tempore-Designate Greg Treat to serve as the Retirement and Insurance Committee Chair.

State Sen. Julie Daniels has been chosen to chair the Senate Judiciary Committee during the 57th Legislature, guiding the panel through consideration of legislation impacting the judicial branch of government and other related issues.

Daniels will also serve as Vice Chair of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Public Safety and Judiciary and will serve as Assistant Majority Whip for the Senate.

State Sen. Stephanie Bice will hold two top leadership posts in the 57th Legislature.  Bice will serve as chair of the Senate Finance Committee.  She is only the second woman to serve as chair and the first Republican woman to head that committee.  Bice will also continue her role as Assistant Floor Leader.  First named to that leadership position in 2016, she is the first Republican woman to serve in that post and only the second woman to do so since statehood.
