Child abuse victims will be receiving help and protection sooner under a new law signed this week. House Bill 1738, by Rep. Ron Peters and Sen. Gary Stanislawski, amends the Oklahoma Child Abuse Reporting and Prevention Act to include “or other health care professional” to the list of persons required to report suspected abuse or neglect of a child.
read more.More and more of Oklahoma’s students are relying on the internet for their education, and thanks to legislation signed into law Friday those students and their parents will be able to be rest assured that they’re getting the same high quality education as they would in a traditional classroom. SB 604 was authored by Sen. Gary Stanislawski who wanted to ensure that Oklahoma’s internet-based education system is efficient and reliable, and not just the easy way out for students.
The Senate Education Committee approved a measure Monday to study the efficiency of Internet-based instruction in Oklahoma. Senate Bill 604 would create a task force to review such programs and make recommendations regarding necessary changes to ensure accountability for those in public schools.
OKLAHOMA CITY Sen. Rob Standridge, R-Norman, is slated to host a town hall meeting addressing domestic violence issues on Dec. 9. The town hall event will allow constituents a chance to hear from Sen. Standridge, learn more about his proposed legislation that will impact domestic violence in Oklahoma and give an opportunity for attendees to ask questions about the upcoming legislative session.
read more. A new law allowing third-party commercial driver license (CDL) testing is now officially in effect. State Sen. Rob Standridge, R-Norman, and Rep. Avery Frix, R-Muskogee, co-authored the legislation which was approved during the 2019 session. Standridge said Oklahoma joins 40 states that already have some form of third-party CDL testing. Standridge said with this new law, Oklahoma will be able to address a costly testing backlog in the trucking industry.
Businesses located in Oklahoma and owned by Oklahomans have a major impact on the state in a variety of areas. That’s according to Sen. Rob Standridge, R-Norman, who has requested an interim study to highlight the positive role those businesses play in not only the state’s economy, but in charitable giving as well.
That study will be held this Thursday, October 10 at 9 a.m. in room 535 of the state Capitol.
Standridge said the informational meeting is a part of his “Oklahoma First!” initiative.

State Sen. Rob Standridge announced he’ll hold a town hall meeting on Monday, June 10, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the Lowry Room of the Pioneer Library at 225 North Webster Avenue. Standridge said the main focus will be on transportation.

The full Senate has given approval to Senate Bill 162 aimed at improving safety in the medical marijuana available to Oklahoma patients as well as clarifying the qualifications for doctors who may provide the recommendation letters required for patients. The bill is authored by Sen. Rob Standridge.
