OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City Community College student, Christopher Shropshire, was recognized by Sen. Rob Standridge, R-Norman, for being a recipient of the Oklahoma Association of Community Colleges Tuition Waiver Award on Tuesday at the state Capitol. Recipients receive a $1,000 tuition waiver and are selected by the presidents of Oklahoma community colleges for their outstanding academic achievement, leadership and their record in the classroom.

State Sen. Gary Stanislawski has been chosen to chair two committees during the 2019 and 2020 legislative sessions—his final two years in the Senate due to term limits.  Stanislawski, R-Tulsa, will continue his role as chair of the Senate Education Committee and will also chair the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on General Government and Transportation.  He’ll also have a seat on the Senate Rules Committee as well as the Committee on Business, Commerce and Tourism, the Retirement and Insurance Committee, and the full Senate Appropriations Committee.

State Sen. Gary Stanislawski has been selected to serve on the Council of State Governments Education and Workforce Committee. The Tulsa Republican was chosen by Senate President Pro Tempore Brian Bingman for the post that will continue through 2016.

The Council of State Governments (CSG) is the nation’s only organization serving all three branches of state government. CSG is a region-based forum that fosters the exchange of insights and ideas to help state officials shape public policy.

I’m so pleased by the recent news that Chesapeake Energy Corporation and Love’s Travel Stores have partnered to grow the compressed natural gas (CNG) infrastructure across the state. Beginning next month, Love’s plans to add ten publicly accessible CNG fueling stations at existing locations across Oklahoma. These stations, located in Altus, Ardmore, Chickasha, Guthrie, Guymon, Lawton, Norman, Okemah, Oklahoma City and Webbers Falls, will be built and operated in partnership with Chesapeake.

The Oklahoma City Republican will serve on the Senate standing committees for Retirement and Insurance, Finance, and Veterans and Military Affairs. She will also serve on the Appropriations Subcommittee on Education.
