State Senator George Young, D-Oklahoma City, released the following statement after the passage of House Bill 4455, also known as the LEAD Act of 2022.

“I asked questions on House Bill 4455 today, which called on the Oklahoma Senate to approve a plan to incentivize some unknown corporation and entice them to build a facility in the Tulsa County area. We need economic development in Oklahoma, and we must diversify our economy, as we’ve allowed oil and gas to dominate our economic well-being for far too long.

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Senate has given unanimous approval to a bill known as the Stephen Bernius Memorial Act, expanding domestic abuse language in state law that determines who can obtain a protective order.  Sen. Darrell Weaver, R-Moore, is the Senate principal author of House Bill 4374.

OKLAHOMA CITY – The full Senate approved a measure on Wednesday requiring insurance companies to cover diagnostic mammograms. House Bill 3504 principal authors, Sen. Brenda Stanley, R-Midwest City, and Rep. Melissa Provenzano, D-Tulsa, said this coverage would save lives.

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Senate unanimously approved legislation Tuesday to provide more transparency of state service contracts. Sen. Bill Coleman, R-Ponca City, is the principal Senate author of House Bill 3484, which would require state agencies accepting a service contract, whether bid or no bid, to list the city, state, and country in which the services will be provided.
