State Senator George Young, D-Oklahoma City, released the following statement after the passage of House Bill 2974 and House Bill 2976 in the Senate on Tuesday.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahomans could be getting fewer irritating solicitation calls thanks to legislation unanimously approved Tuesday by the Senate. House Bill 3168, by Sen. Bill Coleman, R-Ponca City, creates the Telephone Solicitation Act of 2022, which would prohibit numerous types of marketing calls and set strict parameters on when others can be made.

The Senate Health and Human Services Committee on Monday approved the nomination of Dr. Dennis Carter to the Oklahoma Physician Manpower Training Commission on the recommendation of Gov. Kevin Stitt. The nomination was carried by Sen.

Sen. Nathan Dahm, R-Broken Arrow, filed two floor substitutes to protect Oklahoma children from sexualization and unnecessary gender reassignment surgeries.

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Senate approved a trio of bills Monday honoring the service and sacrifice of Oklahoma’s military and their families. Senate Veterans and Military Affairs Committee chair Frank Simpson, R-Springer, authored the bills to ensure veterans are provided a proper burial and to help Oklahoma’s heroes save money in various areas.   

OKLAHOMA CITY – Pursuing a higher education will soon be more affordable for members of the Oklahoma National Guard following the signing of two bills by Gov. Kevin Stitt. Sen. Nicole Miller, R-Edmond, authored Senate Bills 1416 and 1418 to honor the service and sacrifice of these Oklahoma heroes while improving recruitment and retention in the guard.   

OKLAHOMA CITY – Starting with the 2023 school year, Oklahoma students will have access to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline literally at their fingertips thanks to legislation recently signed into law. OKLAHOMA CITY – The full Senate gave approval Thursday to House Bill 4455, creating the Large-scale Economic Activity and Development (LEAD) Act of 2022, aimed at securing a massive manufacturing facility to Oklahoma which will create a minimum 4,000 direct jobs.  Once indirect jobs are factored in, that number could more than double to up to10,000 jobs.  Senate Appropriations Chair Roger Thompson, R-Okemah, is the Senate principal author of the measure.The House principal author is Rep.
