OKLAHOMA CITY – The Tenth Circuit has upheld Oklahoma’s law prohibiting gender transition procedures on children under the age of 18.
SB613, authored by Senate Majority Floor Leader Julie Daniels, R-Bartlesville, and Representative Toni Hasenbeck, R-Elgin, was enacted in 2023. It prohibits medications designed to delay or suppress puberty and surgical procedures that alter or remove physical or anatomical characteristics or features that are typical for the individual’s biological sex.

The Oklahoma State Senate convened the 1st Session of the 60th Legislature on January 7, 2025, to swear in the newly elected Senators Frix, Gillespie, Goodwin, Grellner, Guthrie, Hines, Kern, McIntosh, Mann, Nice, Reinhardt, Sacchieri, Standridge, and Wingard. The Senate elected Senator Lonnie Paxton as the President Pro Tempore. Following the President Pro Tempore election, Senator Julie Daniels was named the Majority Floor Leader, Senator Chuck Hall was named Chairman of the Appropriations and Budget Committee and Senator Julia Kirt was named as the Minority Floor Leader. 
OKLAHOMA CITY — Senator Jonathan Wingard, R-Ada, has been appointed to a prominent regional board that is focused on improving education across the South.
Wingard, who is one of two freshman senators on the Oklahoma Senate’s Appropriations Subcommittee on Education, was recently appointed by Gov. Kevin Stitt to serve on the Southern Regional Education Board’s Legislative Advisory Council.
