OKLAHOMA CITY – Sen. James Leewright, R-Bristow, announced Wednesday he would not seek another term in the Oklahoma Senate.  Leewright represents Senate District 12, which includes all of Creek County and part of Tulsa County.

State Sen. Nathan Dahm, R-Broken Arrow, released the following statement Tuesday after the passage of Senate Bill 612. Dahm is the primary author of the measure, which makes it a felony to perform or attempt to perform an abortion, punishable by up to a $100,000 fine and/or up to 10 years in prison. 

“From my first day in office, protecting the unborn has been one of my top priorities,” Dahm said. “Senate Bill 612 is the strongest pro-life legislation in the country right now, which effectively eliminates abortion in Oklahoma.

OKLAHOMA CITY – There’s a new law on the books that strengthens Oklahoma’s accessory to murder statute.  Sen Darrell Weaver, R-Moore, and Rep. Ross Ford, R-Broken Arrow, are the principal authors of Senate Bill 6, the Sgt. Craig Johnson Act, named for a Tulsa police officer who was shot while conducting a traffic stop in 2020 and later died from his injuries. Gov. Kevin Stitt signed the bill into law on Wednesday.
