Senate leaders commend Galloway’s service to Oklahomans

Chairman of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee and standing committee for Health and Human Services Sen. Paul Rosino and Senate President Pro Tempore Greg Treat released the following statements Wednesday regarding Samantha Galloway stepping down as interim director of the Department of Human Services, a position she has held since August 2022.

“Director Galloway has been an unwavering champion for Oklahomans throughout her career in public service. Her knowledge of human service issues in our state is unmatched, as is her dedication to helping her fellow Oklahomans. It has been a privilege working with her to address major issues facing our state’s most vulnerable citizens.

“Samantha has been a consummate professional who uses her political acumen to advance human service policy and fiscal initiatives that will positively impact Oklahomans for generations. She has been a critical partner with the Legislature in helping wipe out the disability waiting list; improving access to child care services, especially in our state’s many desert areas; and making critical advancements with the Pinnacle Plan to help foster children find loving, safe homes. These are just a few of the many accomplishments she’s garnered during her years at DHS.

“I want to again thank her for her service to our state and citizens and wish her all the best in her future endeavors. I know she will continue working to improve the quality of life of her fellow Oklahomans and will be a tremendous asset wherever she goes.” Sen. Paul Rosino, R-Oklahoma City

“It has been a privilege to work with Samantha Galloway. She has spent her career improving the lives of those who are most vulnerable in our state. She was instrumental in numerous initiatives in working with my colleagues and I at the Capitol. Samantha has left a lasting impression on the agency, and I wish her well moving forward.” - Pro Tem Greg Treat, R-Oklahoma City
