Senate confirms Crow’s nomination as Director of Corrections

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Senate has unanimously approved Gov. Kevin Stitt’s executive nomination of Yukon resident, Scott Crow, to serve as the Director of the Oklahoma Department of Corrections. Sen. Michael Brooks, D-Oklahoma City, carried the nomination before the Senate Public Safety Committee in April and before the full Senate Monday afternoon.

“Mr. Crow has been a dedicated public servant for 35 years and it was my honor to carry his nomination before the Senate,” Brooks said. “He has an impressive resume showcasing his years of leadership and vision within the Department of Corrections, and he will continue to strengthen and modernize this vital state agency.”

Crow began his career in law enforcement in 1987 as a deputy sheriff in Comanche County where he later became captain before serving as the police chief for the City of Cache.  In April 1996, he joined the Oklahoma Department of Corrections as a special investigator and warden’s assistant at John Lilly Correctional Center. He later became the director’s assistant and the center’s legislative liaison.  In August 2000, he was promoted to Administrator of Internal Affairs and Deputy Director of Security and Investigations before transitioning to Security and Facility Operations Manager where he conducted investigations and inspected facility operations on behalf of the Deputy Director of Institutions.

From 2013 to 2016, he served as the Administrator of Field Operations in the Office of the Associate Director before becoming the Chief of Operations.  In June 2019, he was tapped by the governor to serve as the interim director of the agency following the resignation of former DOC director Joe Allbaugh.

Crow oversees the more than 4,300 employees and 24 facilities within the state agency along with Community Corrections and Probation and Parole Services.  He will serve at the pleasure of the governor.
