Sen. Stanislawski to chair two committees during 57th Legislature

State Sen. Gary Stanislawski has been chosen to chair two committees during the 2019 and 2020 legislative sessions—his final two years in the Senate due to term limits.  Stanislawski, R-Tulsa, will continue his role as chair of the Senate Education Committee and will also chair the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on General Government and Transportation.  He’ll also have a seat on the Senate Rules Committee as well as the Committee on Business, Commerce and Tourism, the Retirement and Insurance Committee, and the full Senate Appropriations Committee.

“I think most people know I am dedicated to doing all we can to provide Oklahoma children with the best educational opportunities possible.  We made significant advances for education in the 2018 session,” Stanislawski said.  “I want us to continue that momentum and build on those successes.”

As chair of the Subcommittee on General Government and Transportation, Stanislawski will oversee budget measures dealing with numerous executive branch offices and agencies, including the Oklahoma Department of Transportation.  Stanislawski will also have a seat on the full Appropriations Committee.

“In the past all senators were on Appropriations.  During the 57th Legislature, our leadership has decided to streamline the committee to members with expertise in appropriations, finance and related areas,” Stanislawski said.  “While the budgeting process has been reformed and improved, we must continue that path, ensuring financial stability and constantly identifying efficiencies that benefit our citizens.”

Stanislawski said his additional membership in Rules, the Committee on Business, Commerce and Tourism as well as Retirement and Insurance will give his constituents an even greater voice on issues important to the district and to the state as a whole.

The Senate will meet for an organizational day on January 8 and then will reconvene the 2019 legislative session on February 4.
