Sen. James Leewright receives perfect RIED Report score

State Sen. James Leewright, R-Bristow, received a perfect rating from the Research Institute for Economic Development (RIED) based on his support for pro-business legislation during the 2020 legislative session.

Leewright was the Senate author for House Bill 4018, which created the Rural Broadband Expansion Act and related Council to investigate and provide recommendations on how to expand internet access to rural parts of the state. This measure was one of two House bills and eight Senate bills used by RIED to score legislators on their pro-business voting records.

“As we experience an economic rebound from COVID-19, it’s important that we look for ways to expand access to opportunities for all Oklahoma citizens, including increased broadband connectivity” Leewright said. “I will continue to work with both my Senate and House colleagues to pass legislation that will help our businesses grow, our students learn, and our communities thrive.”

RIED is an organization that promotes economic growth through the evaluation of business, job and economic growth issues considered by the Oklahoma Legislature.
