Sen. Dahm statement on Senate Bill 612 going into effect

OKLAHOMA CITY - State Sen. Nathan Dahm, R-Broken Arrow, released the following statement about Senate Bill 612 going into effect Friday. Dahm introduced and was Senate author of the bill, which makes it a felony to perform or attempt to perform an abortion, punishable by up to a $100,000 fine and/or up to 10 years in prison.

“Today (Friday), after almost two years of work, Senate Bill 612 is in effect. I am proud that our state did not wait for the Supreme Court but led the way and passed this law to successfully eliminate abortion in Oklahomabefore Roe v. Wade was overturned.

“From day one, I have led the fight to protect life in our state. It is my goal to eliminate abortion in Oklahoma, and Senate Bill 612 goes a long way toward realizing that goal.”
