Quinn tapped to serve as assistant majority whip

State Senator Marty Quinn, R-Claremore, will serve as an assistant majority whip for the 58th Legislature, an announcement made by Senate President Pro Tempore Greg Treat, R-Oklahoma City, during organizational day at the Capitol on Tuesday.

Quinn was an assistant majority whip in the 57th Legislature and was again tapped to serve in the leadership role for another two years. The assistant majority whip assists the majority whip in informing Senate leadership of the members’ positions on issues.

“I’m honored to once again be selected as assistant majority whip and serve my colleagues in this position,” Quinn said. “State government works best when we can have open, honest conversations about issues that confront our communities, state and nation, especially in extraordinary times such as these. I look forward to fostering these conversations within our caucus and passing legislation to move our state to new heights in the upcoming legislative session.”

Quinn also serves as the chairman of the Senate Retirement and Insurance Committee and sits on the Appropriations Subcommittee on Natural Resources and Regulatory Services, Education and Energy committees.

The First Session of the 58th Legislature will formally begin on Monday, Feb. 1.
