Pottawatomie County Election Board Secretaries Announced

OKLAHOMA CITY – The State Election Board has reappointed Diana Knight to continue her service as secretary of the Pottawatomie County Election Board until her retirement on June 1, 2015, according to State Senator Ron Sharp.

Knight has worked at the Pottawatomie County Election Board for nearly 38 years.  She began as the Assistant Secretary on November 1, 1977, and was appointed as the Secretary on November 1, 1991.

“The people of Pottawatomie County have been so fortunate to have Diana Knight at the helm for more than two decades.  She has been a tremendous asset to our county ensuring that voters stayed informed and elections were carried out fairly and ethically,” said Sharp, R-Shawnee.

Beginning in 1996, Knight also served for many years as a Regional Coordinator for the Oklahoma State Election Board

Jeannie Stover has been appointed to begin her two-year term on June 1, 2015, when Knight retires.  Stover has worked for the Pottawatomie County Election Board since November 1991 and has served as the Assistant Secretary since June, 1992.  Prior to working for the Election Board, she worked as a secretary for Pottawatomie County Commissioner District Two.

“I am so pleased that Ms. Stover was willing to step up and take over after Ms. Knight’s retirement.  She has some big shoes to fill but I know with her 22 years of experience working at the Pottawatomie County Election Board that she will do a great job,” said Sharp.  “Oklahoma has an outstanding election system and I know Ms. Stover will continue that standard of excellence in Pottawatomie County.”
