Eastern Oklahoma State College student recognized for being All-Oklahoma Academic Team member

OKLAHOMA CITY – Eastern Oklahoma State College student, Tanner Jarrett, was recognized by Sen. Greg McCortney, R-Lawton, for being a member of the All-Oklahoma Academic Team on Tuesday at the state Capitol. All-Oklahoma Academic Team members have a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.5 and are nominated by their college president to the All-USA Academic Team.

A President’s Honor Roll member, Tanner is the president of the Theta Pi Chapter and Phi Theta Kappa as well as an Aggie Club officer, TIO Program Tutor and a member of the Ag Ambassador Program.  He wants to become an agricultural education instructor and FFA adviser.

“It was a pleasure getting to honor and recognize Tanner and all of the other outstanding college students being named to the All-Oklahoma Academic Team for their hard work in the classroom,” said McCortney.  “We have some of the best community colleges in the nation, and I applaud their dedication to setting such high academic standards for Oklahoma’s students.  Meeting these young men and women, I know that Oklahoma’s future is very bright.”

Oklahoma is one of 35 states participating in the State Academic Team Program, which was introduced in 1994 as a way to provide scholastic recognition to community college students’ academic achievement, leadership and service, while promoting excellence at two-year colleges.
