Sen. Brian Bingman
President Pro Tempore Bingman Comments on
Joint Session to Honor Oklahoma’s 45th Infantry Brigade
Today the Oklahoma Legislature held a Fourth Joint Session of
the 53rd Legislature in Honor of Oklahoma’s 45th Infantry
Division of the Oklahoma National Guard. Governor Mary Fallin along
with the legislature officially recognized April 12th as Oklahoma’s
45th Infantry Division Day.
Bingman said, “Today the word was Thunderbird, the symbol
of Oklahoma’s 45th Infantry Division, in honor of their service
to our state. For generations Oklahoma’s National Guardsmen
and women have served our state and citizens in times of emergency
and crisis, war and peace, at home and abroad. The security they
provide our state comes at a sacrifice to them and their families,
for that we are deeply indebted. In the near future 3,300 Oklahoma
Guard members from the 45th will embark on another task when they
deploy overseas to Afghanistan. They will have our support, our
gratitude and most certainly our prayers. I am humbled to be a part
of this important day honoring Oklahoma’s 45th Infantry Division
of the Oklahoma National Guard.”
