Senate Finishes Business Ahead of Deadline, Bingman Comments on
Budget Savings
The Oklahoma State Senate concluded official business Wednesday,
one day before the required deadline to hear all Senate bills that
had passed committee. Constitutionally, the Senate or House must
receive approval from the opposite chamber in order to adjourn from
legislative business early.
“I want to thank members of the Senate and staff for working so hard
and efficiently this week. Thanks also to the House for allowing us
to adjourn legislative business one day early and save taxpayer
money. In these difficult times every dollar counts, we will
continue to lead by example and find ways to trim our budget at
every turn. Closing legislative business one day early this week
will result in a savings of $5,000. This is real money, it belongs
to Oklahomans, and we are working as hard and efficiently as we can
to do our part and be good stewards of taxpayer dollars,” said
President Pro Tempore Brian Bingman, R-Sapulpa.
