Charles
Wyrick, age 50, is the current State Senator for District I in Oklahoma,
making his home in Fairland, Oklahoma. Senator Wyrick and his wife,
Pamela, have been married for 32 years. They have two sons –
Michael and his wife, Wendy, who have a 4-year-old daughter, Josilynn
and a 2 year old son, Talon; and Randy and his wife, Crystal, who
have been married six years and have a 1 year old daughter, Remington
Jo. Senator Wyrick graduated as co-valedictorian from Fairland High
School and attended classes at NEO A& M College.
Sen. Wyrick started his family dairy in 1980 and is currently raising
dairy and beef cows. “I was able to grow the business because
of the commitment and help from my family.” In 1990, he started
a heavy equipment contracting business specializing in soil conservation
work. That operation grew into commercial work, but has since scaled
back to a seasonal operation.
“Because of concern for our environment and the need for conservation
of natural resources, I served on the Board of Directors of the
Ottawa County Conservation District from 1999 through 2004.”
Other positions held include:
1996 to 2003 – served on the Board of Directors for several
state, regional and national dairying promotion organizations with
annual budgets ranging from 9 to 165 million dollars and partnering
with corporate organizations such as McDonalds, Disney and NASCAR.
1998 to 2006 – served as representative of the Southeast Council
of Dairy Farmers of America, which is the nation’s largest
milk marketing cooperative
As District 1 Senator, Sen. Wyrick’s committee memberships
for the 2005 to 2006 legislation session included: Appropriations
Subcommittee on Natural Resources and Regulatory Services, General
Government, Tourism and Wildlife, Jt. Committee on State and Tribal
Relations, Vice-Chair of Agricultural and Rural, Development, and
Chair of Public Safety and Homeland Security.
For the 2007 to 2008 session, Senator Wyrick was appointed as Democratic
Whip. He served as the Co-Chairman of Agriculture and Rural Development,
and a member of Criminal Jurisprudence, Tourism and Wildlife, Transportation
and Jt. Committee on State and Tribal Relations committees.
From 2009 to Present he serves as Democratic Whip and sits on the
following committees: Agriculture and Rural Development, Rules,
Tourism and Wildlife and Transportation.
